hi, I am a student from the University of Newcastle, Australia. i am currently undertaking a project where i hope to enable a UMI RT100 robotic arm to solve a Rubik's cube puzzle, i am therefore very interested in your source code for the control of this robotic arm. regards, Andrew Coughlan coggerz@hotmail.com

Hi! I'm from Linköping University of Sweden studying Master of Science of Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering. I currently reside in Japan as exchange student. Right now I want to do a research project involving image processing. I've read quite about Salience based methods to identify important regions in pictures. For now I'm just going to download this source code to try it out and hopefully get some inspiration about my subject and research field.

Dear Professor Itti and colleagues, I have read your papers on visual attention with great interest, and I am particularly interested in the bottom-up saliency model, you and Koch have developed (2000, 2001). Currently, I am doing my master’s thesis on visual attention at the Center for Visual Cognition, Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen. The experiment that I am doing for my thesis is based on a research study by Foulsham and Underwood (2007). To compute the saliency of the stimuli in the pictures for the study, Foulsham and Underwood used your model (2000, 2001). Foulsham and Underwood found that when given a visual search task (category search or instance search), the subjects rather quickly fixate on the target (piece of fruit). In my experiment, I will add an extra target to the same pictures that Foulsham and Underwood used. The two fruits will vary in saliency to see whether or not the subjects will fixate earlier on the more salient piece of fruit as I would expect. Tom Foulsham has been so kind as to sent me the 48 pictures that he and Underwood used. Now I kindly ask you, if you would be so kind and let me use your source code for this study so I can generate a salience map of the altered pictures. This will enable me to replicate the study by Foulsham and Underwood and introduce my alterations of the design. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Best regards, Jesper Madsen Jesper.madsen@psy.ku.dk

Dear Prof/Dr., I am a Doctor of the multimedia communication lab in Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications in China. Now we are doing a research on wireless sensor network based on the multimedia. One of its function is tracing. So we need to find a distinguished area in a picture. I saw from the forum and I think that our work is somewhat similiar to yours. This is why I am kindly requesting permission to download the following Toolkits from: Source Code SVN Repository Windows port [80MB zip] by Ale Kanevsky and Lila Astrachen Thank you. contact information: Beijing University of Post and Telecommunication, China 100876 Email: zhufuguo243@163.com Tel: 86-01062282183

Hi Dr. Itti, Hope all is well. I don't know if you remember me but I took some classes with you a few years ago. Anyway I just got my hands on a few blade servers and I wanted to play around with the toolkit. Hope you give me access again. -Vahe

Hello, I'm a researcher at the University of Warwick. I'm interested in comparing the results from eye-tracking with the saliency maps created using your method.

Dear Prof. Itti and and colleagues, I'm a graduated student from Univ. of Tokyo, Japan. I read some works you presented and very interested in the implementation, so I'll appreciate if you can send me the Toolkit source(password), it will be a great help to my future research. additional information about my research, my major is complexity science and engineering, part of Graduate School of Frontier Sciences. for specifically, my work is making research efforts toward modeling complexity of the target phonomena and human visual perception for generating sophisticated visualzation results. Best regards.

Dear Professor Itti and colleagues, My name is Ioannis Gkioulekas and I am an undergraduate student in the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Currently, I am working on my degree dissertation on the subject of the computational modeling of visual attention. In particular, I emphasize on the use of texture models for bottom-up saliency. I would like to use your source code for experimentations within this framework. Thank you very much for providing all of us with free access to your toolbox. Yours, Ioannis Gkioulekas. igkiou@gmail.com

Dear iLab Team, I am a behavioural ecologist interested in the evolution of animal signals. I have made use of the Walther & Koch Saliency Toolbox for Matlab in past research, and because of the predictive utility of saliency analysis for explaining movement-based animal signal design, I now wish to pursue this area in more detail. I came across the “surprise” model of Itti and Baldi (2005) and believe this to be a suitable model to pursue my interests. I would, therefore, very much like to have access to the toolbox to undertake further modeling. My email address is: richard.peters@anu.edu.au Best wishes, Richard

Dr. Itti My name is Peeraya Sripian. I am currently a PhD student of the University of Tokyo. My main research will include visual processing which relies on saliency map quite a lot. I have used the login and password that were sent in the email to download the source code. I am sure it will be really useful to my research. Thank you very much
