Midterm grades are out. Please see midterm-grades.pdf in the "homeworks" section of this web site. The class did well overall, with several students
getting more then 100%.
You can pickup your graded midterm
with the details of points given to each question in a box by my
office, HNB-30A. Also see the discussion forum for details on how
grading was done and how to contact the grader should you have any
question, under "questions around midterm examination".

For HW3, the agent prototypes are Posted under the Homeworks link of our class website. Here's what to do:
1) Create a subdirectory called: agents
2) Download the zip file there.
3) unzip agents.zip
4) Follow the directions in the readme file to compile and run a test.
You will only have to look at the core files: Test.java, Agent.java, MaitrDAgent.java (like your waiter agent), and
CustomerAgent.java. All the rest are utility files to support the agents.
For class on Thursday, you should bring listing of the core files mentioned above in order to take notes. I will be talking
about them in detail. Look them over before class. Try to formulate questions you may have.
For your homework, you may copy/modify the core files any way you wish, although I would be surprised if you had to modify
Agent.java. You should not touch the utility files in any way unless you find a bug (not likely, but possible). Finding bugs
in the core files is appreciated.
Have fun. These agents are cool. As I mentioned to my section, agents are IMPORTANT. Learning how to build software using an
agent methodology is vital. The decomposition technique in agent methodologies is powerful.

As you know, I'm going to hold a Java Introduction for all students in either section of csci561 next week:
Monday 10/27 10-12am SAL342
Tues 10/28 9-10:30 SAL 342
I'm going to try to get a real room to use instead of my office. I'll keep you posted as to the location.
On Thursday during class hours, I will give a tutorial for BOTH sections in OHE122 covering the agents that you will use for
assignment 3. While doing so, I will also go over any Java issues that remain after my introductory Java sessions.
Remember: this is for both sections, class will be held in OHE122 on Thursday, Oct. 30th.

if possible, we would like to have at least some of the HW3 writeups on 11/7, so that grading can start early.
So, we'll make it due on 11/11 11:59:59pm as mentioned in the PDF, with a bonus for people who turn it early on the 7th. If
you need more points, that bonus could come in handy.
For the hardcopies, I will have a box in front of my office (HNB-30A) and you can drop your HWs there. But this is not very practical,
so the best would be to submit your hardcopies on 11/6 in class if at all possible.

If you did something in homework 3 with the agents that needs to be demonstrated to the grader, please send him email.
This includes having GUI's, MySQL and anything that requires him to do more than just javac and java.
