We have successfully completed 3 wet test sessions that demonstrated SeaBee III’s control and movement mechanisms.Feel free to view them in the Gallery section.
Please check back in the coming weeks for more.Welcome to the USC Competition Robotics Team home page, home of the SeaBee AUV!
USCR will participate in its sixth AUVSI competition this July and August, competing with a new autonomous underwater vehicle, the SeaBee III (pictured above). SeaBee III showcases a redesigned hull and hardware platform based upon improvements from our earlier vehicles.
The team created the SeaBee line of autonomous underwater vehicles towards achieving a flexible and reliable platform on which members can prototype and develop new hardware for different challenges in the coming years. In previous years, our team has failed to create such a platform, but the current design has broken that cycle. We believe that the extended lifetime of our mechanical and hardware platforms will give our software team an edge in developing tools necessary to perform well in future competitions.
Our ongoing design emphasis is on the miniaturization and streamlining of both our electronic and mechanical components, resulting in a more maneuverable and computationally powerful robot. Instead of relying on a series of interconnected chambers for the vehicle’s hull, we have embraced the idea of a single chamber with a sliding rack that holds our custom-made electronics.
